Introducing the Saint-Pr\u00e9fert estate<\/h1>\n

First things first<\/h2>\n

Located at the very bottom of the village of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape<\/strong>in the \"Small greenhouses<\/em>the Saint-Pr\u00e9fert estate <\/strong>gives birth to great modern, seductive and refined wines. The adventure began in the 1920s, with a great man, a pharmacist in Avignon,<\/em> wine connoisseur and enthusiast, Mr Fernand Serr\u00e9<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em>\u00a0He realized that one of the neighborhoods in Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape <\/strong>was named \"le Quartier des Serres\". He decided to buy around 80 hectares of vines to the south of the village. It was one of his dreams to one day become a winemaker, and he threw himself passionately into the profession. He decided to build his own cellar and house in the middle of the vineyard. He went on to acquire the skills of a winemaker, including winemaking techniques, temperature management, fermentation and yeast.\u00a0Fernand Serre<\/em> was one of the emblems of theAOC Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape<\/strong>. The estate was one of the first to market its wines directly in bottles in 1930. His son Camille <\/em>and his daughter-in-law Suzanne,<\/em> after providing them with a solid training, took over the Saint-Pr\u00e9fert estate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Today, with Isabel Ferrando<\/h2>\n

The second part, the great success of the estate, was the takeover by Isabel Ferrando<\/em><\/strong>A banker in the past, she also decided to embark on a winegrowing adventure. She acquired her winemaking know-how while working in the wine industry. domaine Raspail-Ay<\/strong> (Gigondas). She bought 13 hectares of the original estate and went from strength to strength. Her professional touch has enabled the estate to produce seductive, silky, delicate wines with great consistency. The price of his wines has risen steadily since the first vintage in 2003. In 2004, 2 hectares were added to the domaine, under his name, on sandy terroirs, Domaine Colombis. In 2009, she acquired a further 1.5 hectares: \"Cristia\". Today, Isabel Ferrando manages the estate with passion and authentic know-how, always with a love of vines and wine. Today, the estate covers 28 hectares, with 26.5 hectares in red and 1.5 in white.<\/p>\n

Located on the Greenhouse district<\/em> made up of rolled pebbles and gravel, as well as on the Cristia district<\/em> with its saffron and sand, this cuv\u00e9e is one of the estate's most prestigious. We use 60% of Grenache (80-year-old vines), 35 % of Mourv\u00e8dre and 5% of Syrah (65-year-old vines). The wine is aged for 18 months. During vinification, the grapes are not destemmed. You'll notice the suppleness of this cuv\u00e9e, as well as its great fruitiness. La Charles Giraud Collection<\/strong> is a great wine for laying down that can be enjoyed after 10 years in the cellar. It will develop over 20 to 25 years, or even longer, depending on the vintage.<\/p>\n

This wine is made from Greenhouse district<\/em> as well. There are 82% of Grenache, 10% of Vieux Cinsault and 8% of Syrah. No destemming and 18 months of ageing as well. An elegant, spicy profile for this grand vin du Southern Rh\u00f4ne<\/strong>. It will also be more conducive to tasting in its younger years than the Charles Giraud Collection<\/strong>But it's also a great wine for laying down that you can leave to develop in the cellar for 2 decades or more, depending on the vintage.<\/p>\n

Visit cuv\u00e9e classique<\/strong> is also produced from Greenhouse district<\/em> 80% Grenache, 10% Sincault, 5% Syrah and 5% Mourv\u00e8dre, without destemming and aged for 15 months. For a classic cuv\u00e9e, this is an excellent Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape <\/strong>with good concentration and depth. This is an elegant wine, which reveals all its purity and finesse when tasted.<\/p>\n

The vines are not watered, the cultivation is meticulous and respects the environment. This cuv\u00e9e is made from 100% Clairette grapes, and the vines are between 80 and 100 years old! One of the estate's exceptional cuv\u00e9es, it offers superb sap and incredible fullness, not to mention complexity. You'll need to wait at least 2 years before tasting it, but it will develop over at least a decade.<\/p>\n
