Château Latour is located northwest of Bordeaux, in the "Pauillac" appellation area, in the heart of the Médoc wine region. The vines are planted mainly on gravelly hilltops. An exceptional heritage enjoyed by passionate winegrowers. A historic terroir, extremely well known, "l'Enclos", is divided into two parts: on the one hand, the clayey gravels at the heart of l'Enclos, and on the other, the gravelly sands around the perimeter of l'Enclos. Château Latour's Grand Vin is one of the most coveted in the world. This marvel can be made from at least 4 different grape varieties: mainly Cabernet Sauvignon (90%), 10% Merlot, depending on the vintage, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Where does the name come from? Grand-Puy comes from the old expression puy "which means low mound". The Grand-Puy Lacoste vineyard is located on one of the ridges where the Médoc's premier crus were born. Since then, the estate has been managed from generation to generation by the same family until 1920. It is currently the Borie family who has managed the estate since 1978. The vineyard covers 55 hectares in Bages, southwest of Pauillac. The different grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon at 75%, Merlot at 20% and Cabernet Franc at 5%. The vines are on average 40 years old, and are cultivated according to tradition, with ploughing and the minimum possible use of phytosanitary products.

Best vintages Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2016: 95-97/100 Robert Parker

Château Grand Puy Lacoste 1982: 96/100 RP

Château Grand Puy Lacoste 1949: 96/100 RP

Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2015: 94-96/100 RP

Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2010: 95/100 RP

♢ Château Batailley 5eme grand cru classé

The name of the Batailley estate comes from " Battle" . This 1453 battle over the vines and the Château, the Hundred Years' War. During this war, France reconquered the famous Château Latour, then occupied by the English. This marked the end of British possession in Aquitaine. Today, with the fine effort that results from the association with oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, Mr. Philippe Castéja gives birth to a superb Pauillac, elegant, with a lot of style in a classic form. The association of these two enthusiasts has enabled Château Batailley to gain in definition and precision in recent vintages. It's a great wine for laying down, aging extremely well, typical of Pauillac grands crus. We can also say that it is more accessible in terms of price, compared to other great wines of the appellation.

Best vintages Château Batailley

Château Batailley 2010: 95/100 Robert Parker

Château Batailley 1959: 95/100 RP

Château Batailley 1949: 95/100 RP

Château Batailley 2015: 93-95/100 RP

Château Batailley 2009: 94/100 RP

You may also be interested in these articles:

CHÂTEAU LATOUR IN PAUILLAC | CLASSIFICATION OF THE BEST VINTAGES

BEST VINTAGES OF CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD | AOC PAUILLAC

GUIDE TO CHÂTEAU LYNCH BAGES | BEST VINTAGES OF LYNCH BAGES

THE BEST VINTAGES OF BORDEAUX RED WINES

1982 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild ►100/100◄

<a href="https://www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com/pedesclaux/chateau-pedesclaux-2019.html" target="_blank" rel=" noopener" title="Chateau Pedesclaux 2019 -
