Louis Latour: history of the estate<\/h2>\n

Visit Louis Latour wines<\/strong>As is often the case in Burgundy, Latour is an old family story. The Latour family, who made wine in the C\u00f4te de Beaune<\/strong> since at least 1731, has reached Aloxe<\/a> in 1768 to acquire several vineyards on and around the Corton hill. The following century saw them consolidate their prosperity and, in 1867, purchase the Lamarosse P\u00e8re & Fils winery in Corton. Beaune<\/a>In 1890, they acquired Ch\u00e2teau de Corton Grancey, with its winery and 17 ha of vines, from the Comte de Grancey, who was then suffering from the ravages of phylloxera. Ten years later, the Latours completed their estate by adding two C\u00f4te de Nuits grands crus, Roman\u00e9e saint-vivant and Chambertin<\/a>. The current manager, Louis-Fabrice Latour<\/em>the seventh of its kind, was born in 1964.<\/p>\n

Louis Latour : Vision and winemaking<\/h2>\n

Visit Louis Latour house<\/strong> is sticking to its traditional vision of great wines. Burgundy<\/a><\/strong>The estate has a long tradition of winegrowing, but doesn't shy away from a few innovative forays, planting chardonnay in the Ard\u00e8che and pinot in the Var. The domaine's wines are vinified in the vast cellars of Corton Grancey<\/strong>The white grapes are picked as ripe as possible, crushed and then pressed. They are then hot-filled (poured into a barrel) and not stirred afterwards. The estate wines are aged in 100% new barrels. The red grapes are destemmed and crushed, then fermented in vats. The vatting period is short. After pressing, they are transferred to oak barrels. The reds benefit from less new oak than the whites, but for a longer ageing period. La Louis Latour House<\/strong> produces its own barrels, the staves of which are air-dried for thirty-six months, and favors long but light toasting. Recently, as the Louis Latour style has evolved towards more color and structure in the reds, the cuvaison time has been extended from 10 to 13 or 15 days. At the same time, to avoid the pitfall of overly heavy wines, the harvest has been brought forward slightly.<\/p>\n

In the heart of C\u00f4te de Nuits<\/strong> is the parcel of Chambertin \"cuv\u00e9e h\u00e9ritiers Latour<\/strong>. This terroir is mythical. It has a great wealth of riches! But how? It's mainly due to a geological effect: the alluvial cone (the accumulation of sediments deposited by the torrent as a result of the reduction in slope at the mouth of the valley). On the terroir heir latour<\/strong>There is a certain complexity due to the brown limestone soils.<\/p>\n

The result is a powerful, complex wine with great ageing potential, combining the robustness of Pinot Noir with the taste of terroir. It offers you the flavors of its terroir on a platter: a dark ruby color. A subtle nose with great elegance, notes of blackcurrant, undergrowth and coffee. The palate offers smooth tannins and raspberry flavors. You'll feel all the freshness and finesse of this precious bottle. <\/p>\n
