\"They took three or four minutes to reveal themselves... But what a bouquet! Copious aromas of black cherry, cranberry juice, pomegranate and bergamot, infused with prodigious minerality. The medium-bodied palate reveals saturated tannins, an abundance of blood orange infusing red and black fruits, lively acidity and a light grip on the finish. This is one of the best vintages I've tasted in recent years. This should be considered a 'lightning victory' for the 2015 vintage, but without wanting to sound like a broken record, cellar it for five to seven years to reach its plateau.\"<\/p>\n

Dominique Laurent<\/strong><\/a> owns a very fine Burgundy domaine. Mr. Parker's tasting of the 1993 Vaucrains is very representative: \"Dominique Laurent's 1993s are massive, concentrated, huge, intense wines that will require 8-10 years of cellaring.\" One of the villages where Dominique Laurent has fabulous sources for good juice is his hometown of Nuits St.-Georges, not a particularly easy appellation to excel in 1993. The prodigious Nuits St.-Georges Les Vaucrains, from a vineyard planted in 1920, is one of the Laurent portfolio's greatest wines. This hippopotamus of a wine has an opaque black color, heavy, sweet black cherry, raspberry and black currant fruit, interwoven with smoky mineral scents. Full-bodied, beautifully extracted, sweeter and fleshier than many of the 1993 Laurentians, this wine should be accessible in 5 years and last for 25.<\/p>\n
