In this article, we'll be talking about investing in the wines of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/chateauneuf-du-pape\">Ch\u00e2teauneuf du Pape<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"fr-FR\" align=\"CENTER\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">How and why invest in Ch\u00e2teauneuf du Pape wine?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><span lang=\"fr-FR\"><b>Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"fr-FR\">is an up-and-coming appellation, with many estates achieving over 95 points from various tasters. The 3,200 hectares of planted vines are predominantly red and produce powerful, dense wines. These are wines with great ageing potential (for the most part). Where the vast majority of the appellation is planted on soils composed of clay and pebbles. At Domaine Laroche, the soils are composed of sand on the surface and limestone at depth. This diversity of soils lends finesse and complexity to powerful, fleshy wines. <span lang=\"fr-FR\">Secondly, because the estate is planted on just under 15 hectares, with the following main features <\/span><span lang=\"fr-FR\">grape varieties <\/span><span lang=\"fr-FR\">Mourv\u00e8dre, Syrah, Cinsault, Clairette blanche and Vaccar\u00e8se, not forgetting Grenache, <\/span><span lang=\"fr-FR\">the estate's king grape variety. \"King\" because it's the most widely used, but also because some of the vines are over 100 years old. The Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape appellation authorizes the use of 13 grape varieties, so it's not impossible to come across Terret Noir or Clairette Rose when visiting the vineyards.\u00a0<\/span>But there would be no great wine without the man to extract the full expression of this beautiful terroir.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"fr-FR\">The estate has been in existence since 1703, when Alexandre Barrot acquired a few plots of land in Ch\u00e2teauneuf. The estate has grown from generation to generation, always in the hands of a family whose watchwords are simplicity, passion and honesty. Today, Julien and Laetitia Barrot are at the helm of this magnificent estate. They bring that always (?) open-mindedness, while retaining the expertise that enables them to create cuv\u00e9es that are sometimes parcel-based, but always unique. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span lang=\"fr-FR\"><b>DOMAINE LA BARROCHE, \"PURE\" VINTAGE<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5752\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/pure_new.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"88\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"fr-FR\">The estate's legendary parcel, located at the intersection of the \"Grand Pierre\", \"Rayas\" and \"Pointu\" districts, the century-old Grenache vines benefit from a unique soil of Comtat sand and sandstone (?). After double sorting, vinification takes place in underground concrete vats, followed by a 4-week maceration. The wine is then aged in old foudres for 18 months, before being bottled unfiltered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"fr-FR\">On the palate, you'll find fresh red fruits, floral notes and spices.
