We call it a micro Appellation, because it's tiny in size and will hardly be able to grow between the famous clos-de-Vougeot and Musigny. Situated in the Côte-d'Or department, the vineyard covers 15.45 hectares of vines spread over a dozen winegrowers, with the distinctive feature that a third of the vines are white. An original feature for a Côtes de Nuit appellation.

> Find all our Vougeot and Clos de Vougeot wines

COMPLEX AND DEEP LIKE ITS NEIGHBORS

Over 80% of the appellation's surface area is classified as Premier Cru or Grand Cru. It is rarer to find a "Vougeot village". Clos de Vougeot is a world-famous Grand Cru located right next to Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle. Then there are the Premier Crus, with 4 climats (Clos de la Perrière, Le Clos Blanc, Les Crâs and Les Petits Vougeot). Vougeot's soils are shallow, brown limestone in the upper part, fine-textured limestone and marl and clay in the lower part, where the village appellation is located. As mentioned above, Vougeot wines are unique in that they are white wines, and have been since the creation of the appellation in 1936. Produced with the Chardonnay grape alone, the wines are dry, lively, mineral and very opulent on the palate. Whether white or red, Vougeot wines can be kept for a relatively long time. Depending on the climate, you can expect to enjoy them for 8 to 15 years... You'll just have to be patient.

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2004 Jean Grivot

Originally based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosnes-Romanée, the Grivot family has owned plots of vines for over two centuries, passing through several generations. It wasn't until 1919 that the family acquired a few parcels of the famous Clos Vougeot vineyard after selling a few hectares of their own property.
