Today, we'd like to introduce you to one of our partner estates:<\/span>\u00a0Domain<\/span>\u00a0Gerin<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The family\u00a0Gerin<\/span>\u00a0resides in the heart of the\u00a0C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/span>\u00a0in the village ofAmpuis<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0The estate has been in existence for 6 generations now.<\/span>\u00a0This vineyard, 30 km south of Lyon, is located in the northern Rh\u00f4ne valley and is the smallest in terms of surface area (280 ha).<\/span>\u00a0The importance of Mediterranean and continental climates contributes to the production of the best wines.<\/span>\u00a0Wines that are as appealing visually as they are on the palate.<\/span>\u00a0Syrah, which is an indispensable component, is often blended with\u00a0viognier<\/span>\u00a0to give wines more taste.<\/span>\u00a0They specialize in the production of\u00a0Condrieu<\/span>,\u00a0C\u00f4te-r\u00f4tie<\/span>St Joseph and Vin de France.<\/span><\/p>\n

History of the domain :<\/span><\/h3>\n

In 1983, the Jean-Michel\u00a0Gerin<\/span>\u00a0was created thanks to the acquisition of a plot of land in\u00a0C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Then, in 1987, the first bottle was put on the market thanks to the resumption of the family exploration, in particular Marcel's vineyards.\u00a0Gerin<\/span>\u00a0and Alain Gerin as father and grandfather respectively.<\/span>\u00a0Then, in 1988, the first vinification took place in the\u00a0named place<\/span> the Grandes Places, and in 1996 of the\u00a0Landonne<\/span>.<\/span> In 1990, it became necessary to build a vat room and a barrel cellar, followed by the construction of a bottle storage facility.<\/span>\u00a0In 2002, two winemaker friends joined the adventure:<\/span>\u00a0Peter\u00a0Fisher<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Laurent<\/span>\u00a0Combier<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0The trio settled in the Spanish region 100 km south of Barcelona.<\/span>\u00a0Traditional grape varieties such as Grenache and\u00a0Carigan<\/span>\u00a0bring out the full expression of these century-old wines.<\/span>\u00a0Part of the Syrah has also been planted and the 6 ha vineyard is situated between 300 and 500 m altitude.<\/span>\u00a0The plantation at La\u00a0Vialli\u00e8re<\/span>\u00a0began in 2003 on the land of\u00a0C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0This fairly substantial work is carried out on slopes ranging from 40 to almost 60 %.<\/span>\u00a0In 2009, the first bottles of the vintage appeared.<\/span> A new vat room was built in 2014, which has improved the quality of the wines.<\/span>\u00a0After their planting, and over the last 10 years, the estate has expanded to a total area of 16 ha.<\/span>\u00a0Since the beginning of 2020, the estate has been certified\u00a0HVE<\/span>\u00a03 and has also begun the transition to organic farming.<\/span><\/p>\n
