Guides<\/a><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>History of the domain :\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"p168\">This estate has existed since the reign of Louis XIV.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p169\">The country house was built in 1834 and was awarded its first gold medal in 1885.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p2\">Once the severe phylloxera crisis had passed, L\u00e9onie Templier had the vines replanted on a \"porte-grange\".<span id=\"93\">graft.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p170\">Later, the cellar was built and cement doors were installed. <\/span><span id=\"p171\">A crisis occurred in the early 1910s, prompting the uprooting of part of the estate's vineyards, which were replaced by orchards. <\/span><span id=\"p174\">Then came another economic crisis in 1929, leading to a period of neglect for the estate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"p6\">In 1940 Lucie\u00a0<span id=\"151\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tempier<\/span>\u00a0whose father owned a leather and skins business in Marseille, married Lucien Peyraud.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p175\">Lucien\u00a0<span id=\"176\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Peyraud<\/span>\u00a0is the descendant of a family of gunsmiths and silk manufacturers from St Etienne.<\/span><span id=\"p177\">\u00a0His goal was to become a winemaker.<\/span><span id=\"p178\"> In 1940, the newlyweds moved to the estate, and from there began a great story.<\/span><span id=\"p10\">\u00a0In 1943, the estate was planted with noble grape varieties such as\u00a0<span id=\"36\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre<\/span>the\u00a0<span id=\"37\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Cinsault<\/span>\u00a0and Grenache, grown at an intense pace.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p11\">Ros\u00e9 was bottled in 1943.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p179\">\u00a0Working conditions are quite difficult:<\/span><span id=\"p180\">\u00a0candle lighting, water pumping\u00a0<span id=\"181\" class=\"s-rg-t\">well<\/span>ploughing.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p14\">In 1945, Lucie\u00a0<span id=\"54\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Peyraud<\/span>\u00a0takes the helm of the syndicat des vins de\u00a0<span id=\"55\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Bandol<\/span>\u00a0constituted in 1941, and became a member of the Institut National des Appellations d'Origine in 1947.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p15\">With his phrase\u00a0<span id=\"60\" class=\"s-rg-t\">\u00a0\"plant<\/span>\u00a0from\u00a0<span id=\"61\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"62\" class=\"s-rg-t\">\u00a0\"<\/span>\u00a0he is preparing a campaign among winemakers to award the Vin de\u00a0<span id=\"63\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Bandol<\/span>\u00a0its uniqueness and greatness.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p16\">The first vintage of\u00a0<span id=\"66\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Bandol<\/span>\u00a0Rouge made its debut at the estate in 1951 with a label designed by Alphonse\u00a0<span id=\"67\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tempier<\/span>\u00a0Lucie Peyraud's father.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p17\">This vintage symbolizes the departure of the wines via the port of\u00a0<span id=\"70\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Bandol<\/span>\u00a0on royal tartans.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p182\">It hasn't changed much since then, and represents the spirit of the estate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"p19\">Between the 1950s and 1970s, starting with a strong grape variety, the\u00a0<span id=\"86\" class=\"s-bl-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre<\/span>Lucien\u00a0<span id=\"77\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Peyraud<\/span>\u00a0to promote the\u00a0<span id=\"78\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Bandol<\/span>\u00a0and make it a great wine for ageing on a par with Bordeaux, Burgundy and C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie,\u00a0<span id=\"79\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Hermitage<\/span>\u00a0or Ch\u00e2teauneuf.<\/span><span id=\"p183\"> Lucie, from her nickname Lulu, has become the great ambassador for the sale of the estate's wines.<\/span><span id=\"p184\">\u00a0She travels the length and breadth of France to introduce her wines to restaurateurs.<\/span><span id=\"p185\">\u00a0Its warm welcome and Provencal recipes have earned it a good reputation on the other side of the Atlantic.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p186\">Numerous events take place at the estate, bringing together a host of celebrities.<\/span><span id=\"p24\"> In 1959, Lucien became head of the Confr\u00e9rie de l'Ordre Illustre des Chevaliers de M\u00e9duse, while Lucie joined the Ordre des Dames du Vin et de la Table founded by Madeleine.\u00a0<span id=\"107\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Decure<\/span>\u00a0and Odette\u00a0<span id=\"108\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Kahn<\/span>\u00a0journalists for \"Cuisines et Vins de France\" and \"Revue des Vins de France\u00a0<span id=\"113\" class=\"s-bl-t\">\u00a0\"<\/span>. <\/span><span id=\"p187\">The couple travel extensively to take part in tastings of great wines.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p188\">Lulu and Lucien had 7 children.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p189\">In 1960, Lucie and Lucien were joined by their son Jean-Marie, who became head of winemaking, and Fran\u00e7ois, who became head of production.\u00a0<span id=\"190\">Crop manager<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p28\">Noting the significant differences in the cellar, <span id=\"126\" class=\"s-or-t\">Jean Marie<\/span>\u00a0and Fran\u00e7ois have agreed to vinify separately the vines of the lieux-dits la\u00a0<span id=\"127\" class=\"s-bl-t\">Tourtine<\/span>the Migoua and later the <span id=\"129\" class=\"s-bl-t\">Cabassaou.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"p29\">\u00a0Together with their father, the two sons are also involved in the Syndicat de\u00a0<span id=\"134\" class=\"s-bl-t\">Bandol,<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<span id=\"131\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Confr\u00e9rerie<\/span>\u00a0de la m\u00e9duse, the Acad\u00e9mie du vin de France and the Acad\u00e9mie internationales du vin.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p191\"> Together with their father, they built a new foudres cellar in 1968, providing ideal conditions for long-lasting maturation in large barrels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The estate <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">today<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">\u00a0:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"p284\">The brothers, Fran\u00e7ois and Jean-Marie, are retiring, but they haven't given up running the estate and continue to take part in control tastings.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p261\">\u00a0They joined forces with their sisters Fleurine, Marion, Laurence and V\u00e9ronique, all very attached to the estate, and set up a company.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p262\">\u00a0 Together with the children and Lulu, who still lives at the estate, they continue to contribute to the evolution of their heritage.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p268\">\u00a0Today, the estate is managed by Daniel Ravier, but all strategic decisions are taken by the family, who meet at least 5 times a year.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p200\">\u00a0The terroirs of the estate\u00a0<span id=\"223\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tempier<\/span>\u00a0are made up of a mosaic of geologically rich plots of land spread over 60 hectares.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p269\">\u00a0The topologies and exposures are very varied and the vines are old.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p202\">\u00a0La Bastide au Plan du\u00a0<span id=\"230\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Castellet<\/span>the\u00a0<span id=\"231\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Migoua<\/span>the\u00a0<span id=\"232\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tourtine<\/span>,\u00a0<span id=\"233\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Cabassaou<\/span>\u00a0are terroirs that are carefully cultivated to reveal the character of great vintages.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p270\">\u00a0This estate respects and takes into account the needs of nature, intervening according to the seasons and the lunar calendar.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p271\">\u00a0This spirit lives on today in the vineyards as well as in the cellar.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p272\">\u00a0Under Jean-Philippe's supervision, seven permanent employees work in the estate's vineyards, either mechanically or manually, or to maintain the walls of the terraces.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p273\">\u00a0The vines are pruned by hand, as is the harvest, which takes place according to the moon.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p277\">\u00a0Sheep weed and bring vines into the soil.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p274\">\u00a0The grape harvest remains a key period\u00a0<span id=\"275\" class=\"s-bl-t\">decisive<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p209\">\u00a0 The hand-picked grapes are taken to the winery, where Jennifer's team takes over.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p285\">Once again, the grapes are carefully sorted, destemmed and crushed.<\/span><span id=\"p278\"> After this vinification period, it's time for ageing, where the underground wine cellar provides the perfect conditions for the bottles to reach their full ageing potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The great vintages of the Tempier estate:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Cuv\u00e9e Classique Rouge :\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Bandol-rouge.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6245\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Bandol-rouge.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"167\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"p702\">This is the estate's classic cuv\u00e9e, combining power, discretion, elegance and finesse;<\/span><span id=\"p703\"> qualities that are specific to the field.<\/span><span id=\"p560\">\u00a0 This complexity results from the blending of the estate's different terroirs and the diversity of its clay-limestone soils, which range from calcareous and sandy marl 165 to 900\u00a0<span id=\"604\">my\u00a0<\/span>in the Triassic from 200 <span id=\"605\">my<\/span>. <\/span><span id=\"p561\">It consists of 75 % of <span id=\"606\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mouv\u00e8dre<\/span>\u00a0completed with Grenache and\u00a0<span id=\"607\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Cinsault<\/span>\u00a0with a hint of\u00a0<span id=\"608\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Carignon<\/span> and Syrah.<\/span><span id=\"p707\"> The average age of the vines ranges from 35 to 40 years.<\/span><span id=\"p708\"> The grapes are sorted in the vineyard and cellar, de-stemmed, crushed and put into the cellar for 3 to 4 weeks of fermentation using indigenous yeasts.<\/span><span id=\"p709\"> The wine is aged in casks for a minimum of 18 months before bottling.<\/span><span id=\"p722\"> The wine can be kept for 4 to 15 years to fully appreciate the complexity of the cuv\u00e9e, combining fruity and tertiary notes.\u00a0<span id=\"p728\">(s<\/span><span id=\"p729\">ous wood, tobacco ;<\/span><span id=\"p730\">\u00a0old\u00a0<span id=\"731\" class=\"s-bl-t\">leather)<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><span id=\"p733\">Depending on the vintage, it can be kept for a long time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wysiwyg-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Bandol Ros\u00e9 :\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Bandol-rose.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"165\" \/><span id=\"p568\">This ros\u00e9 from <span id=\"623\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tempier<\/span> holds a perfect balance <span id=\"624\" class=\"s-rg-t\">between complexity and freshness<\/span>. <\/span><span id=\"p734\">The quality of the work in the vineyard and the diversity of the terroir give it a good aromatic intensity, far from synthetic flavours. <\/span><span id=\"p570\">\u00a0It consists of 50 %\u00a0<span id=\"627\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre,<\/span> complemented by Grenache and Cinsault.<\/span><span id=\"p738\">\u00a0The average age of the vines is 20 years.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p739\"> Vinification involves skin maceration, direct pressing and cold settling.<\/span><span id=\"p740\">\u00a0 Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or concrete vats. <\/span><span id=\"p741\">The wine is aged for 6 to 8 months before bottling. <\/span><span id=\"p751\">\u00a0It can be kept from 1 to 5 years, but can be kept longer to develop notes of candied citrus, melon and rose petals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"vin-elevage block-vin-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Bandol Blanc :<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/bandol-blanc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"148\" \/><span id=\"p576\">Despite its southern terroir, it retains a nice freshness, thanks to parcels located in the cooler, later areas of the vineyard, such as La Laidi\u00e8re, le\u00a0<span id=\"649\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Migoua<\/span> and Petit Moulin.<\/span><span id=\"p745\"> The relatively long ageing time in foudres gives it great complexity.<\/span><span id=\"p578\"> It is made up of 60 % of Clairette, 30 % of<span id=\"667\">Ugni<\/span> blanc, Rolle and Rolle completes\u00a0<span id=\"669\">Bouboulenc<\/span> and Marsanne.<\/span><span id=\"p746\">\u00a0 Vinification takes place in vats and tuns.<\/span><span id=\"p747\"> The wine is aged for 10 months before bottling.<\/span><span id=\"p752\"> It can be kept from 1 to 5 years, and can be kept much longer, evolving towards more honeyed and marine aromas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cuv\u00e9e la Tourtine Rouge :\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/toutine-rouge.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"120\" \/><span id=\"p768\">This parcel-based cuv\u00e9e is made from a selection of 5.5 hectares of terroir on a hilltop near the Village du <span id=\"769\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Castellet<\/span>where vines are exposed to both sun and wind.\u00a0 <\/span><span id=\"p584\">The composition is 85 % of\u00a0<span id=\"684\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre<\/span> complemented by Grenache and Cinsault. <\/span><span id=\"p761\">The average age of the vines is 45 to 50 years. <\/span><span id=\"p762\">The grapes are sorted in the vineyard and cellar, de-stemmed, crushed and put in the cellar for 3 to 4 weeks of fermentation using indigenous yeasts. <\/span><span id=\"p763\">The wine is aged in tuns for a minimum of 18 months before bottling. <\/span><span id=\"p767\">They can be kept from 5 to 20 years, depending on individual tastes, and even a little longer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"vin-introduction playfair block-vin-content\">\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cuv\u00e9e Cabassaou Red :\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Cabassaou-Rouge.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"vin-elevage block-vin-content\">\n<div class=\"wysiwyg-content\">\n<div class=\"link-vins\">\n<div class=\"vin-introduction playfair block-vin-content\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> <span id=\"p826\">A parcel-based cuv\u00e9e of definition\u00a0<span id=\"p825\">(ca\u00a0<span id=\"827\" class=\"s-rg-t\">cabasse=ca<\/span>\u00a0tap)<\/span>\u00a0comes from a terroir of small terraces at the foot of the\u00a0<span id=\"828\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Tourtine<\/span>sheltered from the Mistral. <\/span><span id=\"p831\">The vines benefit from a very warm climate, sheltered from the Mistral wind.<\/span><span id=\"p781\">\u00a0They produce a dense, tight wine, typical of the\u00a0<span id=\"806\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mourv\u00e8dre<\/span>with exceptional ageing potential. <\/span><span id=\"p832\">It is composed of 92 to 94 % of\u00a0<span id=\"833\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mouv\u00e8dre<\/span>complemented by Syrah and a little\u00a0<span id=\"834\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Cinsault<\/span>. <\/span><span id=\"p839\">The average age of the vines is at least 60 years.\u00a0 <\/span><span id=\"p784\">\u00a0<span id=\"812\">Visit<\/span> Vinification is carried out using grapes sorted at the plot and cellar level, de-stemmed, crushed and put into the cellar for 3 to 4 weeks of fermentation using indigenous yeasts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"p840\"> The wine is aged in tuns for a minimum of 18 months before bottling.\u00a0 <\/span><span id=\"p841\">The wine can be kept for 10 years or more, to allow it to develop its full potential.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vin-composition block-vin-content\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"vin-vinification block-vin-content\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"vin-elevage block-vin-content\">\n<div class=\"wysiwyg-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cuv\u00e9e La Migoua :\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6253\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comptoirdesmillesimes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Migoua.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"181\" \/><span id=\"p898\">\u00a0This cuv\u00e9e comes from a high-altitude terroir on the Massif du\u00a0<span id=\"899\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Beausset-Vieux<\/span>as geologically complex as it is wild. <\/span><span id=\"p900\">A good selection allows us to better express our specificities.<\/span><span id=\"p861\">\u00a0This wine gives an intense taste that Francois\u00a0<span id=\"880\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Peyraud<\/span>\u00a0Lulu and Lucien's son assumes that he\u00a0<span id=\"881\" class=\"s-rg-t\">\u00a0\"does<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<span id=\"882\" class=\"s-rg-t\">ball \"<\/span> when he lines his mouth before lying back in his coolness. <\/span><span id=\"p901\">It consists of 55 % of\u00a0<span id=\"902\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Mouv\u00e8dre<\/span>25 % of\u00a0<span id=\"903\" class=\"s-rg-t\">Cinsault<\/span>15 % of Grenache and Syrah.<\/span><span id=\"p904\"> The grapes are sorted in the vineyard and cellar, de-stemmed, crushed and put into the cellar for 3 to 4 weeks of fermentation using indigenous yeasts. <\/span><span id=\"p864\">The wine is aged in tuns for 18 months before bottling. <\/span><span id=\"p905\">Shelf life ranges from 5 to 20 years, with greater ageing potential depending on individual tastes.\u00a0
