The appellation was instituted in 1936 and today covers 180 hectares exclusively in red, with Pinot Noir as the sole grape variety. <\/span>Of the 224 hectares of vines, 150 are occupied by climats en lieux-dits (there are 25) and 14 climats en premiers crus.
