Comment by Neal Martin in 2016: "Under the spell. The bouquet is pleasant, with red berries, a touch of undergrowth and black tea and power. The palate is medium-bodied, surprisingly elegant, and without a doubt the most vigorous example of the 1970s I have encountered over the years. Without being profoundly complex or competing with the best vintages of this Saint Julien, this is the kind of mature Claret that makes you smile, seeming to be so easy and refined".
