Volnay 1er Cru Les Pitures 2018 - Blain Gagnard

 

Presentation of the wine : Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru is located at the top of the hill between the Clos des Ducs and Champans. The marly limestone at the top of this hill is different from the rock at the bottom which is a hard limestone. The soil gives a more robust Volnay, with more character than Pommard.

Tasting notes: A silky and elegant wine, but the style of the wines can vary according to the soil and the altitude of the vineyard. They have a high percentage of limestone and have the classic character of Volnay, i.e. fragrance and finesse. Les Pitures is robust and opulent with violet, plum, earth and subtle spiciness. It is aged in neutral oak barrels.

Food/wine pairing: Its high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol content and low tannins make it very pleasant to drink. The red Burgundy, with its earthy character will perfectly accompany game and roast poultry. Also duck breast and dishes with mushrooms and black truffles.

All the bottles offered on the site are in stock and available immediately. Cylinders are sold individually with no minimum order. Delivery costs are fixed: whatever the number of bottles you order.
