History of the domain :

Maison Deutz has been producing champagne for over 180 years, and is a member of the prestigious "Syndicat des Grandes Marques". Their wines combine finesse, vinosity and complexity. The Deutz story began with two wine merchants from the Aix-en-Provence region: Pierre Huber Gelermannn and William Deutz. Founded in 1838, Champagne Deutz is located in the heart of the village of Aÿ, and boasts a veritable heritage that has grown over the generations. Today, the estate boasts 46 hectares of vineyards, sourced from over 350 hectares of historic Champagne crus. The vast majority are classified as "Grand Cru" and "Premier Cru", producing champagne of the highest quality. The wines benefit from prolonged and rare ageing at the heart of the Maison d'Aÿ. These cellars, anchored in the chalk of the Champagne region, allow Champagne Deutz to blossom and develop its aromatic complexity. Champagne Deutz's distinctive style has won over aficionados the world over. From the indisputable "Deutz Brut Classic" to the "Amour de Deutz" cuvée, the House style focuses on wines with distinct personalities, always with passion, exacting standards and excellence.

The great Champagne Deutz vintages:

  • Amour de Deutz white :

This cuvée is a blend of Chardonnay from the terroirs of Avize (41 %), Mesnil-sur-Oger (38 %), Oger (9 %), Camant (5 %) and Villers-Marmery (7 %).

The color is white gold, crystalline and pure, with golden highlights. The whole is supported by a subtle cordon of foam and unctuous effervescence. The nose awakens the senses with fruity notes of apricot, peach, kumquat and mirabelle plum, plus hints of flowers and fresh almonds. The palate is rich, full-bodied, silky and velvety. The aromas detected by the smell are confirmed. The wines truly reflect the quality of the vintage. Today, despite its young age, tasting highlights the evolution and ageing potential of this Grand "Blanc de Blanc". For a perfect food and wine pairing, choose caviar, sushi, sashimi, tuna or Kobe beef carpaccios. The wine's delicacy allows it to be paired with pure dishes, even richer ones with age, such as lobster, sea bass, halibut in a light or stronger sauce.

  • Amour de Deutz Rosé :

This cuvée is made from Pinot Noir ( 57 %) from the terroirs of Aÿ, Verzenay Ambonnay and Bouzy, and Chardonnay (43 %) from the crus of Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly and Villiers-Marmery. The style is distinctive, as is the wine's color, thanks to the addition, during the blending of 6 %, of a great red Pinot Noir wine made by Deutz from parcels of old vines from the Côte d'Aÿ: "La Pelle" and parcels from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ: "Cumaine" and "Charmont". The wine is a sumptuous rose-gold color with coppery effects. Its string of effervescence adds a joyful, almost dance-like note. The nose awakens aromas of lightly stewed red fruits accompanied by subtle vanilla notes. On the palate, notes of red fruits like strawberry and redcurrant, and dense fruits like blackcurrant. The texture is velvety, always elegant, bringing power, balance and classy freshness. This cuvée is one of Deutz's "Trio de Prestige". It's the perfect accompaniment to grilled lobster or delicate, delicate fish such as red mullet or Saint-Pierre. It can also be enjoyed with Kobe beef carpaccio or delicate pigeon with cherries.

  • Deutz Brut Classic :

This cuvée is the result of several years of harvesting. To ensure consistency, complexity and maintain the House style, a reserve proportion of 20 to 40 % is incorporated into the cuvée. The blend is made up of 1/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Pinot Meunier and 1/3 Chardonnay. The wine is a deep golden color, with the fine beading that is the hallmark of Maison Deutz. These wines have benefited from long maturation on lees. The bouquet reveals floral notes (hawthorn, white flower....) and aromas of toast, marzipan and ripe fruit such as apples and pears. On the palate, the freshness of the Chardonnay, the unctuousness of the Pinot and an elegant vinosity with well-melted aromas and a silky texture. On the finish, the wine rounds out with a very persistent fruity note. This is the most electric champagne in the Deutz range. Ideal as an aperitif, it can accompany fish in sauce such as salmon, turbot and st pierre, as well as poultry and white meats.

  • Deutz Brut Rosé :

This is a blend of Premiers and Grands Crus de Pinots Noirs from the terroirs of Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay and Tauxières, with a touch of Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs-Avize mainly, Vlleneuve-Renneville, Vertus-with an approximate proportion of 90% and 10 %. Its style and color come from a blend of around 8 % of red wine, generally from parcels in Aÿ (Pierre Robert, La pelle) and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ (Cumaine, Vaularon, Mutry). These vineyards belong to the Champagne Deutz estate, and are vinified by the House's cellar masters. At the end of 3 years' ageing on the lees, the aromas are perfectly blended, and the Brut Rosé presents great subtlety on the nose, with a remarkable "Fondu-Fraicheur" alliance on the palate. The color is shimmering, with assertive pink highlights and a fine effervescence. The nose is frank and delicious, with ripe cherries, pomegranates and redcurrants. The palate is full and delectable, in perfect harmony with the nose, and enlivened by delicious notes of fresh strawberries and raspberries. On the finish, tangy notes underline the finesse of this well-balanced wine with romantic overtones. For a perfect Met vins pairing, opt for salmon with mushrooms, beef carpaccio, duck with cranberries, rack of lamb and fresh cheeses such as Chaource, LeBrillatt Savarin...

  • Tribute to William Deutz Parcelle d'Aÿ :

It is made from Pinot Noir d'Aÿ grapes sourced exclusively from the Meutet (52 %) and Côte Glacière ( 48 %) parcels. The wine's crystal-clear, luminous deep gold color is hemmed in with copper highlights, and its effervescence is fine and regular. The nose is highly expressive, developing seductive aromas of vine peach, quince, apricot and mirabelle plum. The bouquet of primary aromas is carefully supported by fine notes of honey and almond. On the palate, it seduces with its purity and straightforwardness, while expressing the beautiful nobility of its terroir. It brings a balance of freshness, purity and complexity. The wine expresses intense minerality after a frank, clean attack. Aromas of yellow and white fruits and a touch of ginger coat the palate. The finish lingers on an iodized note typical of the hillsides from which the wine comes. Best served as an aperitif, this cuvée goes well with grilled lobster, tuna carpaccio, partridge pastilla or chaource. It also goes well with sushi and all Asian dishes.

  • A tribute to William Deutz Coté Glacière :

It is made from Pinot Noir d'Aÿ grapes sourced exclusively from the "La Côte Glacière" plot, owned by Champagne de Deutz. The color is light, combining golden yellow with subtle copper accents. The effervescence is fine and regular, contributing to visual satisfaction. On the nose, it's very expressive, reflecting the effects of the south-facing slope. The warmth of floral and ripe fruit aromas is also evident. The plot was harvested at perfect ripeness. The fullness of this terroir wine, with its primary expressions of lilac blossom, pear and peach fruit, as well as exotic and honeyed notes, will not wait for the number of years. On the palate, there's a balance of purity, complexity and a rare sensation of harmony and refinement. The finish is promising, inviting the connoisseur to classify this cuvée as a wine for laying down. It goes well with grilled lobster, tuna carpaccio, partridge pastilla or soft cheeses. It also goes well with spicy Asian cuisine.

  • Tribute to william Deutz Meurtet:

This cuvée is made from Pinot Noir d'Aÿ, exclusively from the "Meurtet" plot, owned by Champagne Deutz. Speaking of the visual aspect, it is quite delicate in terms of both the finesse of the bubbles and the chromatic intensity. The wine is a success thanks to its personality. It appeals to tasters in a harmonious, courteous and straightforward way. Aromas of white and yellow fruits (apricots, bigarreau) form a cosmopolitan yet unified whole. The licorice does not divide it. On the palate, the range widens, with the addition of other colors and tasty notes of red fruit such as cherry. The quality of the limestone subsoil brings its expressions, as well as the nobility of the fruit and terroir. This cuvée is the perfect accompaniment to gourmet meals such as foie gras, grilled lobster, poultry and tuna steaks, whether cooked traditionally or with a touch of the exotic.
