Once upon a time...

Jean Claude Boissetthe son of schoolteachers, joined the winegrowing business, building a small winery in Gevrey-Chambertin in the 1960s. Following his success, he began exporting his wines to the UK, Europe and the USA. The estate began to take shape after the purchase of the first vineyard: visit Evocelles. This estate is a blend of all the estates purchased by the family over the years. Twenty years after the first vines appeared around Vougeot and the first foot in Côte de Beaune. Finally, the contribution of Clos Blanc completes the Vougeot like a famous golden glow. It's thanks to all these vines from the family estate, that today we hear about the domaine de la Vougeraie.

  • Nuit St Georges premier cru Clos de Thorey Monopole :

It is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. Vinification is carried out using 50 % of whole grapes, not crushed and vatted by gravity. No yeast or enzymes have been added. Maceration pre-fermentation is done cold, at a temperature of 12 to 15 degrees for 5 days; while total maceration lasts 23 days. Aged for 13 months in barrel and 3 months in stainless steel vats. No fining or light filtration. Aromas of blackcurrant, spices, cracked pepper, eglantine and wintergreen. It's also medium-bodied, with better concentration, lively acidity and fine tannins that assert themselves on the gently biting finish.

  • Gevrey Premier cru Bel Air :

Vinification is carried out using 34 % of whole, gravity-fed, uncrushed grapes. No yeasting or enzyming has been added. Maceration pre-fermentation is done cold between 12 and 15 degrees for 5 days. Total maceration lasts 22 days in vats. Light pumping over every day until the end of the cuvaison. Pressing with the press is vertical. The wine is aged for 16 months, including 1 month in stainless steel vats. This cuvée reveals aromas of blackcurrant, spices and grilled porcini mushrooms, with a hint of juniper. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and lively, with youthful chalky tannins and a lively spine of acidity.

  • Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru :

Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, it can be drunk between 2025 and 2045. In the glass, notes of peony and orange peel mingle with rich red fruits and fleshy notes of smoked meat and fresh leather absent during the aging process. It's medium- to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with powdery tannins, succulent acidity and a generous core of fruit. It's a beautiful, elegant wine, a little rustic in aroma.

The 10 other cuvées :

  • Vougeot 1er Cru Les Cras :

It gives off aromas of cherries, spices, dried herbs and toasted new oak. The palate is medium-bodied, lively and firm in its youth, with a crunchy core of fruit and chalky tannins.

  • Volnay Village :

In the glass, this cuvée opens with notes of dark berries, stewed plums, spices and licorice. It's medium-bodied with succulent acids, a rich core of fruit and chalky tannins that assert themselves on the finish, rather as if it had been made in barrel.

  • Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Corvées Pagets :

This cuvée transmits a sensation of air to the nose. We call it fruit spacing. The palate is lively and linear, with tart red cherries, a touch of citrus zest and tangy Seville orange marmalade towards the finish, which breaks off a little quickly. Once recovered from bottling, this will be a decent first vintage, although there are still a few substances left to develop.

  • Gevrey Chambertin Les Evocelles :

One of the highlights of the entire range, it opens in the glass with scents of blackcurrant, smoked meat, rich nuances of soil, spices and dried flowers. The palate is medium-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, with bright acids and good depth in the core.

  • Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru :

It gives off aromas of plums, warm spices, potpourri, wintergreen and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping with a broad attack and ample fruit core, it's a little shy after its recent bottling, despite the fact that in profile it's a rather supple and charming interpretation of this site.

There are also two other cuvées: Beaume Village Blanc and Beaume 1er Cru les Grèves.
