La Barroche: Their history

Alexandre Barrot, the founder and popular figure of the family, bought the first land in 1703, thus inscribing the family name in the village of Châteauneuf du Pape, and handing down the estate from father to son to this day. The great-grandfather, Eugène Gabriel, exploited the terroirs to find the best part of the land to harvest the vines. It was all a question of know-how and sharing. He went to neighboring harvests, even though he owned two grape presses. One of these presses is now housed in the Père Anselme museum, in the heart of the vineyard. Christian Barrot takes over the reins of the family estate, while the neighboring properties have been abandoned in favor of industry. Christian is passionate about his terroir and his vines, and concentrates all his efforts on getting the best out of his land. He sells his wine to the prestigious négociants of the Côtes du Rhône Septentrionales.

Julien and Laeticia Barrot, the estate's new generation:

Julien and Laeticia Barrot are brother and sister and represent the new winemakers who embody the values of the estate. Since their arrival on the family estate in 2000, they have embodied the future of Grenache. Laeticia, the eldest, brings her feminine touch to this masculine world. Thanks to her training in communications and international trade, the wine world holds no secrets for her. After a decade of experience in major international groups, she decided to return to her native vineyards to embody and represent her family's history. Julien, the younger brother, has always had a passion for winemaking. He joined the domaine in 2002, aged just 22, after completing his oenology training and graduating from business school. A very curious and open-minded person, he respects the terroir and the know-how handed down by his elders. Thanks to his hard work and dedication, the domaine now recognizes him for his cuvées with different personalities: Signature, Pure and Fiancée.
