A generational story:

? The 4th generation of the family runs the domainlocated in Chassagne-Montrachet. This estate has existed since the 20th century. Over the years, they have expanded their vineyard to cover 13 hectares. Thierry came to the domaine in 1999, but really immersed himself in his work during the 2004 vintage. Thierry's philosophy is the same as some winemakers today: natural, frank, with reduced use of new wood, resulting in wines in keeping with the terroir.

 

History of the estate :

This estate was founded in 1900 by Jean-Baptiste PillotHe is a cooper by trade, who has decided to devote himself full-time to the cultivation of his vines. The children, Alphonse and Henri, joined their father on the estate at the end of the Second World War. The estate's prices have risen sharply, and at the same time, they've started marketing their own bottles. Henri's son Paul became head of the estate in 1968, taking over the prestigious vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru du Clos. Saint Jeandes Grandes Ruchottes, des Cailleretsand Grande Montagne, as well as the Saint-Aubin 1er Cru des Charmois.

 

The domain era today:

?  The estate has 13 hectares of vines, including 4.5 hectares of reds. It is managed by the hard-working Thierry, who began working on the estate in 1999 before returning for good in 2004. He is the 4th generation to run this estate. • Chassagne Montrachet Blanc 1 er cru Clos st Jean-Paul Pillot :

Aromas of white flowers, pear, crisp green apple, beeswax and fresh bread. The wine is medium-bodied, acidic and incisive, with a core of ripe fruit and powerful acidity. The wine is well-balanced and more likely to be counted among the estate's premier crus.

 

• Chassagne Montrachet Rouge 1 er Cru Clos St Jean - Paul Pillot :

 

It emerges from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, orange peel, warm spices and loamy soil. It is lively and fragrant, with a fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and fine, powdery tannins. This cuvée was blind tasted by Robert Parker and it's a success! This Premier Cru "La Romanée" gives a stone nose cold set back, rather reserved, with hints of pressed white flowers that develop over time. The palate is balanced, with good acidity, precise, concentrated and a saline note towards the end that comes up just a little short. This cuvée is a little conservative, but as it ages, it will give more taste and perhaps even a little more weight. If you love great Burgundy whites, this premier cru cuvée is for you....
