Built by Jean de Pontac starting in 1549, Château Haut-Brion is a wine estate owned by the family business. Clarence Dillon Estate. Located just outside Bordeaux, in the commune of Pessac (in the Graves region), this prestigious estate is the fruit of several centuries of commitment, expenditure and innovation initiated by numerous wine-producing families.

 

  • A legendary wine

Despite the passage of time, Château Haut-Brion remains mythical and continues to produce wine of legendary quality. Guided over the years by a love of perfection and a unique savoir-faire, the skilled and passionate winemakers at Château Haut-Brion have never ceased to improve the quality of their production.   • A quality appellation: Pessac-Léognan

According to the 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines, the legendary Château Haut-Brion enjoys the appellation " Premier grand cru classé de Pessac-Léognan ". This rare distinction is not the only one enjoyed by Château Haut-Brion. In the 1959 classification, it is also classed as " cru classé des graves ". The prestigious qualities of Château Haut-Brion wine are partly due to the terroir from which the grapes used in its production come. In fact, Haut-Brion's terroir is located in the Graves vineyardGraves is a subdivision of the Bordeaux vineyards. Situated along the left bank of the Garonne River, the Graves vineyards have a gravelly soil with a sandy-clay subsoil: highly favorable for winemaking. Taking advantage of the viticultural value of the Graves vineyard's fluvial gravels, Château Haut-Brion's winemakers produce top-quality wines known as "vins de Graves".
