Introducing the Weinbach estate
Visit Domaine Weinbach is a famous winery located in Alsacein Kaysersberg. It's a highly recognized estate, and a source of pride for the French wine industry. Historically, the estate began in 1898, with the acquisition of the property by the Faller brothers. Then Théo, son and nephew of the Fallers, took up the torch. A passionate man with only one goal: his determination and desire for quality in Alsace vines and the development of their incomparable terroirs and grape varieties. In love with his passion and his property, he developed, enlarged and embellished it. It was in 1979 that his wife Colette, and daughters Catherine and Laurence, who have proved themselves with the same constancy and passion for the wines of Alsace, took over the reins. fine wines d'Alsace. Since 2015, Catherine has been managing the Domaine Weinbach with his son Théo Grande Alsace vineyards and ardent promoter of its recognition in Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée.
Domaine Weinbach wines
Their Alsatian terroirs are incredibly rich and varied. Their terroirs are blessed with an ideal, sunny microclimate in the heart of the Kayserberg valley. In 2005, the estate decided to produce their wine biodynamically. The wines are elegant and very precise. They go wonderfully well with shellfish, fine fish, or even as an aperitif or with cheese! An estate that lights up the French vineyard with brilliant wines. A big bravo to the winemakers. The attached tasting notes are taken from the website Robert Parker & his team from Wine Advocate.
GEWÜRZTRAMINER CUVÉE LAURENCE 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Gewürztraminer Cuvée Laurence 2015 comes from the bottom of the Altenbourg (limestone/clay soil) and opens with a very clean, fresh and aromatic bouquet of white fruit and citrus (oranges, kumquat), with mineral and spicy notes. Round and very elegant on the palate, this full-bodied Gewurztraminer is lush and fresh, very juicy but also nicely mineral and floral. It reveals fine tannins and a lingering salinity on the finish. This 2015 is already drinking perfectly today, but can go for decades. There's a nice spiciness and mineral grip on the finish.
Drink now or cellar until 2045. 91/100
GEWÜRZTRAMINER ALTENBOURG 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
The 2015 Gewürztraminer Altenbourg is clear, fresh and elegant, yet intense and distinguished on the nose where white fruit aromas are on display with lemon, orange and some spicy notes. Full-bodied, zesty and fresh on the palate, this is a rich, juicy Gewurz, but very elegant and solidly structured; the 32.1 grams of residual sugar are well balanced by fine tannins and remarkably vital freshness. The finish is truly stimulating in its clarity and salinity.
Drink now until 2045. 92/100
GEWÜRZTRAMINER FÜRSTENTUM 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Gewurztraminer Furstentum 2015 offers a very clear, precise and slightly flinty bouquet, still a little reductive of bright fruit intermingled with fresh crystalline and mineral flavors. Very elegant and delicate on the palate, this rich, intense and pretty Gewurz needs years to unfold its talents and shed its sweetness (36.77 grams per liter) and mole. The tannins are fine and structuring, and the finesse of this wine is truly remarkable. Keep it for at least eight to ten years!
Drink from 2025 to 2045. 93+/100
GEWÜRZTRAMINER FÜRSTENTUM VENDANGES TARDIVES 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Picked on November 5, the 2015 Gewurztraminer Furstentum Vendange Tardive sample opens with a very clear, fresh, pungent and mineral bouquet of passion fruit. Rich, intense, fresh and spicy on the palate, this is a sweet, concentrated yet very elegant VT, finely structured and well-structured. Although not yet approved as a VT by the official AVA jury, this is a magnificent wine with great potential to age and improve over the years on the bottle.
Drink from 2030 to 2050. 96+/100
GEWÜRZTRAMINER MAMBOURG VENDANGES TARDIVES 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Not yet approved by the official AVA council, the bottled sample of Gewurztraminer Mambourg Vendange Tardive 2015 presents a very clear, intense, mineral and slightly minty bouquet with some greenish notes. Very rich and elegant on the palate, this is an exuberant yet balanced Gewurz, finely dosed and taut with lovely grip and mineral expression. The finish is lush and sensual, very elegant and balanced, complex and firmly structured. This VT has great potential and tasting it should be an incredible experience. RIESLING SCHLOSSBERG 2016 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Not yet rated, this Riesling Grand Cru comes from a terroir of granitic rock with shallow sandy soil. As for exposure, it faces south on a steep slope, ensuring optimum sunshine. Residual sugar levels are 4.5 g/L and alcohol 13.5%.
The color is gold / sparkling yellow / brilliant. The nose is subtle, with a large basket of white-fleshed fruit. On the palate, the wine's finesse is evident, with balanced, precise acidity. The finish is persistent and very fresh.
This grand cru d'Alsace will go wonderfully well with shellfish, cheese, aperitifs and Asian dishes such as sushi or sashimi. Fine fish is another perfect match.
RIESLING SCHLOSSBERG VENDANGES TARDIVES 2015 - DOMAINE WEINBACH
Tasted as a sample (before official AVA approval), the 2015 Riesling Schlossberg Vendange Tardive displays a very clear and elegant bouquet of super-ripe, yet healthy grape flavors mixed with flinty aromas. This VT is so clear and stimulating on the palate and reveals great, great finesse and delicacy with the finest minerals, grip and tension. The tension and grip in the finish are truly remarkable and the length exceptional. This is one of the best VTs I can remember, and it comes from one of Alsace's finest grands crus. The sweetness of 71 grams per liter is perfectly integrated, thanks to the prominent mineral flavors.
You can drink it now, or keep it until 2055. 97/100
