4 red wines for summer drinking

The vacations are well underway for some, or just around the corner for others, and we're all wondering... What am I going to drink on vacation?

So here's a selection of four great red wines to accompany aperitifs with friends, abandoned beaches, barbecues or long discussions to remake the world.

• Crozes-Hermitage 2017 - Au Fil du Temps - Domaine Darnaud

The story of the estate began in 2001, when Emmanuel Darnaud farms 1.5 hectares of vines in the Crozes Hermitage appellation. Since then, the estate has grown to 15 hectares of vines, including 1.70 hectares in the Saint-Joseph appellation.

To talk about the "Au Fil du Temps" cuvée, this is a parcel selection from the "Saviaux" terroirs of La Roche de Glun. Composed of 100% of Syrah over 35 years old, the wine is aged partly in new barrels and partly in barriques or demi-muid for 16 months.

The nose is very floral and fruity. On the palate, the juice is greedy, fruity and delicate. Ideal to start a meal or as an aperitif...

• Saint-Estèphe - Château Lafon-Rochet 2008

Today, 4^ème Grand Cru Classé de Bordeaux Château Lafon-Rochet was born in 1960 from the marriage of Antoinette de Guillemottes and Étienne Lafon. The estate has weathered all the storms and passed through the ages without changing course, retaining a unique style all its own. Today, the estate is run according to biodynamic principles and is considering certification.

Situated between Lafite Rothschild and Cos d'Estournel, the Château's 45 hectares offer one of the appellation's richest and most powerful Saint-Estèphe wines.

With notes of black fruit and pepper and great complexity, this bottle is sure to accompany all your stewed dishes and red meats.

• Gevrey-Chambertin 2012 - Cuvée de l'Abeille - Ponsot

This is a very old estate, whose first plots of vines were purchased in 1872. Since then, several generations have succeeded one another on the estate, with the same desire to make wines with the greatest respect for tradition. The desire to carry out as little handling as possible, no filtration and no passage in new barrels, to offer a pure juice.

We're lucky enough to still be able to offer a few bottles of 2012, as since 2017, the estate has no longer been managed by Laurent Ponsot but by his sister.

This Cuvée de l'Abeille offers a wine of lace and finesse, with an opulent mouth of red fruit and crunch.

• Rivesaltes 1970 - Riveyrac

We offer you a 1970 Rivesaltes from one of the oldest cooperative wineries in the region. The winery was founded in 1909 by 9 passionate winegrowers.

Grenache Noir blends with Macabeu, Grenache Blanc and Malvoisie to produce a complex, smooth and silky natural sweet wine with notes of cocoa, sweet spices and cold tobacco.
