Domaine Raveneau: the legendary Chablis estate

Best chablis wine raveneau les clos

Chablis du Domaine Raveneau are among the world's finest white wines, and are designed for ageing. The most famous climats are "Les Clos", "Valmur" and "Blanchots". Below are the tasting notes of Robert Parker's team on the finest vintages and cuvées of Domaine Raveneau wines.

Raveneau Chablis Les Clos 2002

Robert Parker score: 98-100/100

Chalk, chalk, spices, white peaches and minerals can be found in its aromatic compounds. A fine, full-bodied effort that reveals impressive personality, depth and concentration. Pure, dense, muscular, exceptionally well-balanced. A brilliant liner with multiple complex flavors: salty pears, earth, flint and hints of preserved lemons. Expected maturity: 2008-2020.

Raveneau Chablis Les Clos 2010

Robert Parker rating: 97+/100

All the best elements of the vintage are present from this superb Chablis. Visionary Domaine Raveneau strikes again: layers of fruit across the palate, captivating all the senses, intellectual, hedonistic and all the rest. Clos 2010 shows great balance and class from start to finish. A profound wine to be savored over the coming decades, though not to be touched until ten years of age. A magical bottle of wine. At maturity: 2020+.

Raveneau Chablis Les Clos 2014

Robert Parker score: 97/100

A much more expressive bouquet than the 2015, with beautiful orange blossom and smoky scents adorning the nose. The palate is very well balanced and very saline. This great vintage is so seductive and harmonious that it seems to bloom. It delivers fabulous intensity on the finish. While "Valmur" is the darling in 2015, this "Les Clos" could be the favorite in 2014, thanks to its sense of completeness. But as I mentioned in my remarks last year, patience will be paramount for those looking to witness this Chablis at its peak. To be enjoyed between 2020 and 2050.

Raveneau Chablis Blanchots 2014

Robert Parker score: 97/100

The Chablis Grand Cru 2014 "Blanchots" is a great competitor for the others. Domaine Raveneau winesThis is a great year for Chablis. It's very well defined, with a bouquet influenced by notes of sea air, offering a captivating intensity. This is a Chablis that looks you straight in the eye. The palate displays exquisite balance, with a razor-sharp acidity. It's lively and playful, with a wonderful sense of harmony and balance towards the finish. It's sophisticated and elegant, but will need 4-6 years to settle perfectly in the throat. Drink between 2020 and 2050.

Raveneau Chablis Valmur 2002

Robert Parker rating: 96-98/100

This Raveneau is magnificent. Tones from the earth, notes of apple, flint and white peach, which come together in knockout aromas. The essence of perfectly ripe Chablis grape skins. Seashells, minerals, flint, abundant spices, pears and apples are intertwined in its complex fruit core. This full-bodied wine thrills the taster with its concentration, depth, extremely supple texture and great length. Drink now through 2020.

Raveneau Chablis Les Clos 2006

Robert Parker rating: 96-97/100

Visit Chablis de Raveneau 2006 "Les Clos" offers a mysterious profusion of floral notes, nobly fungal and mineral aromas. The intensity of the phenolic compounds of tactile mineral pinch - chalk, tangerine and grapefruit zest, white pepper - are drowned in a matrix of peaches and white citrus, still voluptuously rich, fresh, so vivid that I almost expected to find the paste in the bottom of my glass. In its elegant shimmering interplay of mineral dimensions and glistening fruit, floral perfume, bittersweet, and nutty oils. Drink now.

Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses 2007

Robert Parker score: 97/100

Astonishing! Mysterious notes of scallops, a sweet wine with saline flavors and a delightful alliance between richness and texture. Smooth and delicate, a true refresher the likes of which you won't often see. Notes of fresh limes, distilled herbal essence, orange oil, the scent of iris and honey on the nose. An extremely elegant and dynamic mid-palate. A flat finish. Drink now through 2024.

Dauvissat Les Clos 2008

Robert Parker rating: 96-97/100

I tasted the Chablis Les Clos 2008 by Dauvissat assembled from the tank, very shortly before bottling, where it demonstrated a remarkably dense but lively layer of citrus, quince, white peach and formidably concentrated chalk, oyster and iodine mineralization. Coconut bitterness, quinine and fruit-well bitterness help to prolong a cleansing, gum-sticking, electrically charged, practically stripping finish that heralds at least 15 years of glory, provided premature oxidation doesn't bring it down, which nobody can predict and the track record of this cuvée makes unlikely. To be enjoyed from now until 2023+.
