The origins of Drappier
In 1808, François Drappier moves to Urville to use and exploit the vineyards. Despite all the crises between the beginning of the estate and the early 1900s, the company continued to develop in the 1930s when Georges Drappier develops pinot noir in the vineyards. The counter becomes the imprint of the house. André and Michelle Drapier launched the cuvée "Gold Card with the famous yellow label and its composition of 90 % Pinot Noir, 5 % Chardonnay and 5 % Pinot Meunier.
Ecology at the heart of the estate's values
On January 1, 2016, Drappier became the first Champagne houseZero Carbon " (Ecoact certified) and was awarded byDrink Business' the "Green Award 2017 "award for the most ecologically virtuous estate. The Revue du Vin de France awards Drappier the Innovation Awards. The Drappier house was once inhabited by Cistercian monks from Clairveaux, and features vaulted cellars dating back to the 12th century. Following in his father's footsteps, Michel Drappier has been in charge of vinification since 1979. A third of the vineyard is farmed organically, followed by supplies from Montagne de Reims, Bouzy and Ambonnay. Domaine Drappier's champagnes are colorful, generous in their aromas, and expressive on the palate with their earthy vinosity. Here we find a frank, unvarnished terroir dimension, vinified with minimal doses of sulfur.

Best served as an aperitif or with oysters.
"In fact, it was champagne as we used to drink it among ourselves, in the evening after a day's work in the vineyards or cellars", explains Michel Drappier, "I never thought I'd market it, but one day a sommelier visiting the house came across a bottle and fell in love with it. That's how the story began".

This cuvée was launched for the 50th anniversary of the June 18th Appeal in 1990, with a blend that the general loved: 80 % Pinot Noir and 20 % Chardonnay. Intense golden color. The nose offers notes of red fruit, then evolves towards pastry and gingerbread. This cuvée was created as a tribute to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Clarevallis is the name given by Saint Bernard to the abbey founded in 1115. Today, these cellars belong to the Drappier house. This champagne brings an exuberant fruity touch. It is vinified at 75 % in stainless steel tanks to preserve the crispness of the fruit, but other wines are also vinified under wood in muids built from oak from the nearby Oriental Forest. After slow foaming to produce fine bubbles, the cuvée is disgorged and dosed with Extra Brut 4g/l plus a liqueur made from organic cane sugar. The wine is white-gold in color, with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose reveals notes of elderberry, violets, flowers and spring, with a hint of herbs.
