TOP 1 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2005

100/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"The Troplong Mondot 2005 is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. It was emotional to taste this wine, thinking of the late Christine Valette, who made this fascinating wine while fighting with considerable courage against an insidious disease. It's a great effort and a superstar of the vintage. Dense purple, it offers notes of white chocolate, blackberry, cassis and licorice as well as a hint of truffle and subtle oak. Full-bodied, multi-layered, spectacularly pure and rich, this is a tour de force and a great tribute to an incredible woman. Remarkably young, this wine probably needs 4-8 years in bottle and should keep for 20 years or more. Bravo to Christine Valette!"

TOP 2 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2009

99/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"It has a crimson and purple color, as well as a magnificent bouquet of mocha, chocolate, blackberry and cassis, a creamy texture, a fleshy, viscous mouthfeel and a multi-layered, skyscraper-like finish. This spectacular wine is almost overwhelming in its richness, thickness and intensity. Once all the baby fat falls away, the terroir characteristics and additional nuances emerge. This blockbuster, fabulous Troplong Mondot will benefit from 10 to 15 years of cellaring and conservation for three decades or more."

TOP 3 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2010

99/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"Inky, blue/black/purple in color, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a boatload of blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry, this is a powerful, full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the building blocks of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol are wisely and impressively integrated. It's a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente with the help of Michel Rolland. I'm not sure what the fat alcohol level is in Troplong Mondot in 2010 (it must certainly be in the 15%+ range), but it's well hidden behind the extravagant, rich, powerful and pure nobility of this majestic of a wine. Cellar it for 5-7 years and drink it over the next three decades. An absolutely magnificent wine from this estate."

TOP 4 : Château Troplong-Mondot 1990

98/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"A fabulous example, the 1990 Troplong Mondot is matched only by recent vintages such as 2000, 2005 and 2008. The 1990 ink / garnet / plum / purple shows notes of coffee, blackberry, licorice, camphor and espresso. Rich and full-bodied, with sumptuous fruit, high glycerin, low acidity and astonishing purity."

TOP 5 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2015

96/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"Blended with 90% merlot, 8% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet franc aged in French oak, 85% new, the deep garnet-colored 2015 Troplong Mondot evokes warm plums, blackberry pie and blueberry tart with notes of underbrush. leaves, cedar chest and lavender, plus a bite of cake spice. Full-bodied on the palate, it's packed with a solid core of black and blue fruits backed by firm, grainy tannins and a spicy finish. This beauty is the ultimate pleasure for hedonists!"

TOP 6 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2012

96/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"The 2012 is another great wine from Troplong Mondot. It's always sentimental to taste this wine, realizing that owner Christine Valette (the larger-than-life heart and soul of this domaine) has passed away. She was one of Bordeaux's bright and shining stars. Nevertheless, her legacy is certainly well established, and the quality of this wine is beyond reproach. Inky bluish purple, its notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and licorice are followed by a full-bodied, opulent and textured wine with astonishing concentration, purity and overall balance. It should drink well for 20-25 years and become one of the great superstars of 2012. His 63-acre vineyard was farmed at 31 hectoliters per hectare, producing a final blend of 90% Merlot and 10 Cabernet Sauvignon that reached 14.2 % alcohol."

TOP 7 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2008

96/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"A candidate for the great wines of the 2008 vintage. This vintage from Troplong Mondot was produced from yields of 41 hectoliters per hectare and reached 14.5% natural alcohol. A classic blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it offers copious amounts of blue and black fruits, full-bodied opulence, soft tannins and fabulous texture and finish. Already drinking nicely, this will be even better in 2-5 years and should last for 20. A great effort for the vintage, well deserved for this talented owner, Christine Valette. Bravo!"

TOP 8 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2000

96/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"Extremely young with an incredible dark purple color, the Troplong Mondot 2000 has hardly changed since I tasted it in 2003. Two recent tastings have confirmed that this is the most profound Troplong Mondot compared to the 1990 and more recent ones such as 2005, 2008 and 2009 Copious flavors of chocolate, graphite, blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant and ink are present in this Saint-Émilion powerful and massive. While the tannins are remarkable, they are better integrated than seven years ago, and the fruit, extract and richness clearly outweigh the wine's structure. This 2000 vintage will benefit from 4 to 5 years of cellaring (longer than originally planned) and can be enjoyed for at least 2 decades."

TOP 9 : Château Troplong-Mondot 1989

95+/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"A very young wine that will probably never reach the heights of the 1990s (but how many wines can?), This dense ruby-purple wine has a very pure nose of espresso, roasted, black cherry jam, blackberry, mineral and even a hint of blueberry. There were smoky flavors and new, high-quality toasty oak, but now that seems to be fading. Quite full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, but at the same time elegant, this wine still seems very young and unevolved."

TOP 10 : Château Troplong-Mondot 2011

95/100 Robert Parker | 94/100 Wine Spectator

"Brilliant Troplong Mondot 2011 is one of the superstars of the vintage. The final blend consisted of 89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine flaked at 14.5% alcohol. Its opaque blue/purple, almost black color is followed by aromas of blueberry liqueur, interwoven with black raspberries, blackberries, licorice, camphor and forest floor. Among the most complete wines of the vintage, with no hollowness, astringency or herbaceousness, this is proof of the winemaker's savoir-faire in a difficult vintage. Some tannins are perceptible, but this 2011 is already accessible and should make for delicious, complex drinking over the next two decades. Bravo!"
