Which white wine goes with cheese?
Many of us serve cheese on the table with wine. It's a French tradition! And even if we prefer to serve red wine with cheese, it would be better to serve white wine as an accompaniment. White wine harmonizes tastes and brings out the best in both products. White wines go particularly well with goat's cheese or Comté. You can opt for :
- a Riesling d'Alsace
- a Burgundy Chablis.
- For a wine and Munster pairing, once again, opt for a sweet or syrupy white: like a great wine from Sauternes for example.
- For a rocamadour, cheese and wine pairing, opt for a dry white from the vineyards of the same region: Jurançon dry.
- Pouilly fumé from Loire or the Saumur are also ideal for pairing with wine and goat's cheese. They can also be paired with a soft cheese, such as morbier.

Which red wine goes best with a varied cheese platter?
However, many cheeses can be enjoyed with red wine. Here are our recommendations for tasting red wine with cheese:
- Visit Saint Emilion Bordeaux goes particularly well with soft, bloomy-rind cheeses such as Saint-Marcellin, Camembert and Brie.
- This is also confirmed by a great Beaujolais wine which is often paired with Chaource or Reblochon cheese. For a more original pairing, opt for a young Comté. The tannins of the red will enhance the aromas of this cheese.
- You can also be tempted by a Loire red wine which goes perfectly with goat's cheese. In this case, opt for a rather light wine, such as a Chinon. Couly-Dutheilor a Bourgueil; for example, Domaine de La Butte by the famous Jacky Blot.
