Champagne Reflet d'Antan - Bérêche et Fils
Maturity : 2020 - 2035
Tasting : : The latest version of the NV Brut Reflet d'Antan is completed as usual by some 30% of reserve wines from a solère of demi-muids dating from 1986. This shows superbly, offering a deep and complex bouquet of citrus oil, warm pastry, peach, apple skin, fenugreek and spice, followed by a full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate, rich and generous, its concentrated core of fruit underpinned by racy acids, ending with a long, saline finish. When I noticed that this interpretation is more refined and much less oxidizing in profile than the Reflet d'Antan of yesteryear, Raphaël Bérêche told me that he had made a very strict selection of the barrels of the solera chosen, with this objective in mind.
