What are the specificities of Château La Gaffelière?
The
The Château produces an average of 100,000 bottles per year.
The vines, with an average age of 35 years, produce a wine that is one of the great classics of the appellation. A blended wine made from two grape varieties:
Since 2000, the harvest has been carried out in crates, a practice that respects the grapes. Fermentation is carried out in thermo-regulated intox vats. The wine is aged in new oak barrels for 14 to 20 months. So, since recent vintages, we find a wine that conforms to its counterparts of the appellation and of the Bordeaux vineyard.
The Malet Roquefort family defends its ecological values by respecting the environment through sustainable agriculture. The family uses only organic treatment products and works the vines using traditional methods in order to reduce the estate's ecological imprint as much as possible.
The Château La Gaffelière is a perfectly balanced wine of exemplary finesse. The estate promises a fruity wine with an elegant woodiness. Its colour, although varying according to the vintage, is still very intense and rather dark. Known for its length on the palate, it is a surprising wine perfectly combining power, elegance and finesse.
The Château produces a second wine "Clos La Gaffelière", made mainly from the youngest vines. A young wine from the Saint-Emilion appellation with a keeping potential of 5 to 7 years.
