ChâteauCamensac is a wine estate of 75 ha of vines located in the Haut-Médoc, precisely in St-Laurent-Médoc, in Gironde. Located in AOC Haut-Médoc, it is classified cinquième grand cru in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.
In 1965 it was bought by the Forner brothers, who also own the famous Marques de Caceres de la Rioja bodega. The two brothers replanted most of the 85 hectares of vineyards, the rest being 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. They also renovated the winery and cellars and hired the famous Bordeaux oenologist professor Emile Peynaud as a consultant.
Camensac now produces wines of very high quality and concentration that emphasize elegance, finesse, harmony and balance, rather than power and raw strength. Very young, they are very affordable, but they also have great ageing potential with their structure and very well-balanced tannins that will continue to improve for up to ten years.
