Presentation of Puligny-Montrachet

The birthplace of the greatest Chardonnays in the world. The AOC Puligny-Montrachet is a communal appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Many critics consider Puligny-Montrachet to be the appellation producing the best white wines of Burgundy, this being due to the number of Grands Crus that this name implies. Two of them are also located in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet: Le Montrachet and Le Batard-Montrachet, but it is in Puligny that we find all the Grands Crus Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet. The Best Premiers Crus of Puligny are located on the hill, from the Grands Crus and to the limit of Meursault: Le Cailleret, Les Pucelles, Clos des Meix, Clavoillon, les Folatieres, les Perrières, Les Referts, Les Combettes and Champ Canet.

There are very few red Puligny-Montrachet. Almost all the appellation remains Puligny-Montrachet white. The production is 8000HL of Puligny Montrachet white against 200HL of Puligny Montrachet red.
