The history of Vincent Girardin is relatively recent. In 1980, at the age of 19, Vincent Girardin, son of a family of winegrowers established in Santenay since the 17th century, decided to fly on his own wings and started to produce wine from the five hectares of vines he had inherited from his parents.
From an early age, Vincent, passionate about the work of the vine and respectful of its potential, had the ambition to produce his own wine. The quality of his wines was quickly recognised by connoisseurs around the world, which allowed him to develop his business, focusing mainly on the great white and red wines of the Côte de Beaune.
In order to meet the growing demand for his wines, he developed a new approach in Burgundy: he bought grapes from producers who shared the same philosophy and the same high standards. In 2012, Vincent Girardin sold his estate to a long-time partner of the House. Jean-Pierre Nié, president of the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in Beaune, naturally decided to continue with the small team of nine people who have been loyal to the House for many years.
Today, Eric Germain continues to bring the style of the wines to life and Marco Caschera markets them worldwide.
