Appellation Château-Grillet Contrôlée

Château-Grillet is a white wine d'appellation d'origine contrôlée. An appellation for a single property located in the Rhône, the Château Neyret-Gachet. It is true that its particularity deserved this distinction granted in 1936. The viognier, planted on narrow terraces with one or two rows of vines on each of them, benefits from a microclimate that clearly distinguishes the production from that of its neighbour of Condrieu. The product of the vines harvested at full maturity is aged in barrels for eighteen months. This has made it, as Curnonsky said, one of the five best white wines in France. However, the quality had been out of step with market prices for a decade.
