What are the best wines of 2017?

2017, a vintage that has seen all the colors! But even if it is not the vintage of the century, it is still very variable. There is also good and very good wine from 2017.

 

Pauillac is the most successful appellation of the vintage with beautiful characteristics coming from the Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium-bodied, fresh, aromatic and less alcoholic than those found in the sunnier vintages. The tannins are sweet. The fruit is sweet and most wines will be enjoyable early in life. The left bank is more consistent than the right bank in this vintage. The other successes are Saint Julien and Saint Estèphe. Then the top of the limestone plateau of Saint Emilion, and the slopes close to Pomerol.

  

A great vintage of good quality wines, both red and white. An event that the region has not known for nearly 10 years. In red: supple tannins and lots of sweet fruits. In white: concentration, freshness and minerality.

  

This is one of the first harvests recorded in the Rhône and the quality is generally considered excellent, but there are simply not enough grapes in several appellations, which could lead to higher prices for some wines. "The quality of the grapes was perfect, with maturity and freshness," explains Jean-Paul Daumen of Domaine de la Vieille Julienne in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. "But the yields are very, very low. About 50% less."
