Domaine Belargus at the best price and from the estate
Here is the famous Domaine Belargus. Find all the best references of this prestigious domain on Comptoir des Millésimes. This is one of our partner estates, which means that their wines are shipped directly to our cellar following their bottling in their estate. The winemakers reserve an allocation of their cases of wine for us each year. Do not hesitate to create an email alert (in the section my Alerts) on the Belargus in order to be informed first of the latest arrivals.
Presentation of Domaine Belargus
In 1978, the bubbly and bravura Jo Pithon launched his first winery, Domaine Pithon, in the Loire Valley's Anjou appellation. In 2008, he reimagined the family business to form Pithon-Paillé and now, in 2019, Jo has made the difficult decision to sell the estate to a new, but deeply dedicated, owner: Ivan Massonnat. Although he is no longer officially at the helm of the estate, Jo will remain heavily involved in the decision making, as well as in the production of some of Pithon-Paillé's most celebrated wines. The arrival of the young but immensely talented Adrien Moreau was the final piece of the puzzle for Domaine Belargus.
Together, they formed the newly formed "Domaine Belargus," a name referring to the beautiful and rare blue butterflies found in the region. They currently farm 26 hectares of their own land, and have recently purchased an additional 13 hectares in the Quarts de Chaume and Savennieres AOCs. The monopole vineyard, "Le Coteau des Treilles", remains the jewel of the domain, representing an unofficial Grand Cru in terms of dry Chenin Blanc production. All their grapes are organically grown. Masters of some of the region's rare Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs, they take their inspiration from Burgundy where each parcel is valued for its unique character, a concept still relatively new in the Loire. Their wines are made as naturally as possible using only one third of the allowed doses of sulfur. Straight, layered, fresh, balanced and textured, their wines showcase the pedigree of the terroir and the bright future of this estate.
