Presentation of the Domaine de l'Aurage
This is a very beautiful estate run by renowned winegrowers. Caroline and Louis ("Loulou") Mitjavile bought the estate in 2007. The estate was formerly called "Château Cadet"; the vineyard has 22 hectares of vines on clay-limestone soil. The famous winemaker, Louis Mitjaville, had previously revealed all his know-how with the Roc de Cambes and the famous Château Tertre Roteboeuf in Saint-Émilion. We find a rather similar style with a high maturity of the grapes, maturing in new barrels and a single vintage for the whole of the wine estate. A wine typical of the appellation, a consistent quality that offers superb ageing potential.
The secret of the estate: harvesting the fresh grapes just before they are over-ripe. The winegrowers combine this with a very long ageing process in new wood in the traditional way.
