Chateau Haut-Marbuzet, owned by Henri Duboscq, is a renowned wine estate in Médoc. It extends over 65 hectares of vines in the commune of Saint-Estèphe and benefits from the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée of the same name.
It is located on the Marbuzet plateau, between Chateau Cos d'Estournel and Château Montrose. You will find a wide choice of Saint-Estèphe wines at the best price, such as old vintages of Cos d’Estournel, Montrose, Calon-Ségur, Lafon-Rochet, Meyney ou Phelan Segur in the commune of Saint-Estèphe.
Haut Marbuzet today produces one of the most hedonistic and voluptuous wines of the Médoc. It is classified as a cru bourgeois, but its wines regularly surpass many of the most famous wines of the Médoc grands crus classés. Its vineyards are well situated facing the Gironde estuary and are planted on gravelly soils. The property was purchased in 1952 by Hervé Dubosq and is now owned and managed by his son, Henri.
The wine is now generally a mixture of 3 grape varieties:
The high percentage of Merlot accentuates the fleshy and supple side of the wine and this is accentuated by harvesting as late as possible and maturing the wine in 100% new oak barrels for 18 months. Haut Marbuzet wines are rich and voluptuous to drink young with lots of concentrated fruit and chocolate-vanilla aromas, but also age beautifully. Annual production is around 360,000 bottles.
