Good advice on the 2009 wines, the solar vintage

The 2009 vintage. Mother Nature has smiled on France - every major region has had a great growing season. In Alsace, a wonderful year! The success of the harvest is undoubtedly due to the almost ideal climate in September and October (hot, dry days and cool nights). "I've never seen anything like this in my career," said Christian Moueix, whose family owns or manages some of the most prestigious wine estates on the right bank of Bordeaux, including Pétrus , La Fleur-Pétrus and Trotanoy. Moueix has been making wine in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion since 1971. In Burgundy, 2009 is a great vintage. History is on the side of the region. The vintages ending with "9" have produced memorable harvests - years like 1989, 1969, 1959 and 1949 confirm the rule. Certainly, if we stick to the old adage, August makes the must - literally, "August is essential", the vintage is promising. During this month, rainfall was well below average, while temperatures and hours of sunshine were above average.
