Château Suduiraut is a 200-hectare wine estate, 92 of which are vineyards. It is located in Preignac, in the south of Bordeaux. This prestigious great Sauternes wine is a premier grand cru classé.
What are the specificities of Château Suduiraut?
With twenty-five year old vines of average age, planted in limestone, sandy and stony soil just a stone's throw from Yquem, it's one of the sure values of the appellation. And this, despite a dry spell at the beginning of the 1970s, the 1976 vintage being the only exception. Axa Millésimes, which took control in 1992, had to bring to the vintage what it still lacked to regularize its quality.
The estate offers for tasting a wine made from two different grape varieties:

The wine combining freshness, power and balance is one of the eleven Premiers Crus of 1855. The
Late harvests are manual and last several weeks with a picking grain by grain in order to produce a very precise wine. Vinified in French oak barrels, the wine is aged on lees in 50% new French oak barrels for 18-24 months, depending on the character of the vintage. It should be noted that in exceptional vintages (1982 and 1989 for the most recent), the château produces its cuvée Madame, a selection of the best vats, marketed in infinitesimal quantities.
In order to best express its terroir, the property produces a second wine, Castelnau de Suduiraut, which made its debut in 1992. The estate also produces dry white Bordeaux wine, S de Suduiraut, which was produced for the first time with the 2004 vintage.
