Presentation of the Stéphane Tissot estate

Based in the small Jura appellation, the Tissots own some 35 hectares of vineyards, managed by a team of 15 hardy souls. The Jura region has only 2000 hectares of vineyards, in a narrow strip of 60 km from north to south in eastern France. The climate is similar to that of the Côte d'Or (Burgundy), with wet, cool winters and hot, mostly dry summers. The vines are planted at an average altitude of 300 metres. Domaine Tissot has not only made the bold choice to grow according to biodynamic principles, but also adheres to the low interventionist movement (i.e. natural winemaking), fermenting with natural yeasts and limiting the addition of sulphur dioxide. Domaine Tissot is a rare breed of vineyard that has a cult following among trendy sommeliers, but is also well regarded by more traditional wine watchers.
