In Bordeaux, the vintage is remarkable. Climatic conditions certainly never seen before with an icy winter with extreme temperatures down to -14°c. Nevertheless, the following months were very favourable to the harvest with a hot and dry summer and September. The wines, already very appreciable by their elegance in their youth, became smooth and deep with the years. The Pomerol and Saint-Emilion wines are perfectly concentrated. The dry white wines combine finesse and aromatic richness and the sweet wines are also a great success, mellow and fruity. 1985 is a very fine year in Bordeaux despite the weather conditions never seen before.
Burgundy did not receive any special treatment and suffered the same weather conditions as in Bordeaux. Nevertheless, the quality of the vintage is excellent. The harvests enjoyed a very nice summer and a remarkably mild September. The red Burgundy wines are perfectly cut for laying down and present a perfect balance.
