Rated (92-94) by Lisa Perrotti-Brown, the 2017 Château Clinet displays a deep garnet color with purple highlights. It gradually opens to reveal an expressive bouquet of red and black fruits—redcurrant, black cherry, plum, and blackcurrant—enhanced by floral nuances of rose, as well as hints of yeast, wood smoke, and crushed stone.
On the palate, it presents a medium-bodied structure, supported by firm, slightly grainy tannins. Its taut and muscular texture reveals still-tight fruit, carried by a beautiful mineral backbone.
The long and precise finish seduces with its purity and delicate notes of fragrant earth, suggesting interesting aging potential.
