Domaine de Marcoux - Vieilles vignes 2019
Chateauneuf du Pape - From the estate
- 97/100 Parker and 97/100 Wine Spectator
- Cellaring potential: 2025 - 2040
- Tasted by Joe Czerwinski in May 2022: "Marcoux's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is dense and tannic. Notes of crushed stone and dried garrigue appear on the nose, alongside blackberries and black cherries. This is essentially a pure Grenache aged in foudre from two locations - Charbonnières and Les Esquierons - although the old vines likely include some inter-variety. This terrific wine finishes long and silky, with layers of fruit and spice unfolding, including a hint of salty licorice."
- From vines planted in 1900.
