Côte-Rotie Coteaux de Tupin 2019 - Duclaux
Domaine Benjamin & David DUCLAUX
(94 - 97)/100 Parker
- When to drink this wine : 2025 - 2040
- Tasted by Joe Czerwinski in 2022: "Still in barrel at the time of my visit (it was to be bottled in late 2021), the 2019 Cote Rotie Coteaux de Tupin is a terrific second vintage for this wine. A plot selection from the named place, made with unstemmed fruit, it displays soaring aromas of violets, mint, mixed berries and black olives. Concentrated and rich, with a long, velvety finish, it should be cellared for at least five years and drunk for over a decade after that."
- Origin: place called "Côte-Rôtie Coteaux de Tupin".
- Soil: terraced vines resting on a gneiss bedrock.
- Grape variety : 100% Syrah
- Extended ageing: 26 months in barrels. Only one thousand units.
- Comment : This confidential parcel-based cuvée comes from the so-called "Coteaux de Tupin". The very high proportion of whole harvest brings to this wine, 100% syrah, character and relief. An iron hand in a velvet glove, the "Coteaux de Tupin" cuvée perpetuates in our eyes the tradition of the great Côte-Rôtie wines for laying down.
- Tasting : On the nose, you will find those smoky and liquorice aromas that have made the reputation of Côte-Rôtie. In the mouth, white pepper and mentholated notes are obvious. The tannins are virile but the texture in mouth is bewitching. This cuvée has a real structure and is undeniably well suited for ageing.
