Chambolle-Musigny 2016 - Ghislaine Barthod
(87 - 89)/100 Parker
Maturity: 2019 - 2026
By Neal Martin in 2017: "Chambolle-Musigny 2016 has been reduced by 40% of the production of this harvest, the plots closer to Morey-Saint-Denis being less affected by frost than the others. It is now much more promising than Red Burgundy, which is full of lively red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, not powerful but delicate. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a fine pearl of acidity, what could be described as a "transparent" Chambolle-Musigny with a fine tension and a stony sensation on the finish. Classic from start to finish, to be drunk over the next 7 to 10 years.
The cuvée: The Chambolle Musigny village of Ghislaine Barthod is harvested on a series of wine-growing sites spread across the width of Chambolle, covering a total area of 1.24 hectares. This mix of soil types and exposures produces a classic Chambolle, truly representative of the terroir of this village.
