Questions fréquemment posées
In the opinion of the greatest tasters such as Robert Parker or the Wine Spectator team, the year 2016 was a very great vintage for the wines of St Joseph, particularly for the red wines which have an exceptional ageing capacity. The St Joseph white 2016 are also excellent but rarer and have a lesser ageing capacity.
In 2016, the wines have a consistent price and we do not notice a strong increase compared to 2015. The prices of the St Joseph wines of the 2016 vintage are therefore in a range between 15€ and 70€ for the most prestigious bottles. The average price is around 30/50€, like the Ferraton Père et Fils estate and the Domaine Emmanuel Darnaud, which remain, in 2016, superb representations of what is best in this appellation. Prestigious wines that are very affordable for their quality!
The St Joseph Rouges 2016 are wines of very high quality. Generally speaking, St Joseph wines are wines that can be drunk young, in red or white. However, some vintages, which have had exemplary ageing, will be able to hold up over the years and develop over time to reach their peak after 8 to 12 years of cellaring. For example, the wines of Domaine Emmanuel Darnaud.
