92/100 James Suckling
Cellaring : 2025 - 2034
“The 2017 Cran Ludes Premier Cru, made with equal parts pinot noir and chardonnay from three parcels in Ludes, is typically one of Bérêche's most reliable wines. The vines, rooted in shallow soils with only 30 centimeters of topsoil above the limestone bedrock, benefit from both west and east exposure. Disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of three grams per liter, the wine opens with an expressive bouquet of pear, honeysuckle and rye bread, mingling with roasted nuts and exotic fruit. On the palate, it's generous and charming, marked by tangy acidity and a lively saline touch. Although it doesn't quite reach the crystalline purity and precision of Cran in less sickly vintages - 2017 being particularly challenging for Pinot Noir - it nevertheless represents a commendable achievement.” Kristaps Karklins
