Château la Fleur Petrus 1989
Pomerol
The older vintages of Château La Fleur-Pétrus perfectly illustrate the classic Pomerol style: wines built on finesse rather than power, gaining complexity with age. Made primarily from Merlot grown in soils that blend gravel and clay, they develop a particularly silky, almost velvety texture with age, while retaining a beautiful freshness. At maturity, the aromas evolve from black fruit to elegant tertiary notes: truffle, undergrowth, fine leather, tobacco, and sometimes violet, all within a harmonious and balanced structure.
Unlike some of the appellation's more powerful wines, La Fleur-Pétrus stands out in its older vintages for its refinement and drinkability, with smooth tannins and a perfectly integrated structure.
