Even taller and richer than Cuvee Chaupin, the 1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is full-bodied, rich, and silky on the palate, with classic notes of Janasse, barbecue smoke, licorice, herbs, smoked pepper, and black fruits. I have been fortunate to have several bottles of this great wine recently, all of which have been magnificent. You can taste it now and it will continue to develop until 2023.
