Cornas 2014 Les Eygats - Domaine Courbis
92/100
by Jeb Dunnuck "Well concentrated, with notes of pepper, iron, sweet black cherry and strawberry. This medium-bodied, supple, pure, beautifully polished effort can be enjoyed today, but will keep well for a decade. These 2014s show the most balanced and focused style of the vintage, yet have great character and are already affordable. "
Located on the right bank of the RhôneOverlooking Valencia, the terraces of Cornas are a great terroir. Perched at an altitude of over 250 m on terraces of decomposed granite (called Gore), these vines are about twenty years old and have an eastern exposure. They benefit from an exceptional microclimate which gives a minerality and elegance that is welcome to this vintage.
The Laurent and Dominique Courbis estate, in the village of Châteaubourg. The complete range is a treasure trove of quality wines, which can generally be found at reasonable prices.
