Côte-Rôtie 2017 La Belle Hélène - Stéphane Ogier
97/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2025 - 2040
By Joe Czerwinski on May 13, 2021: "Rich and plush, the 2017 Cote Rotie La Belle Hélène is a full-bodied, hedonistic example of the appellation. Notes of black cherry, espresso, cedar and dark chocolate dominate the nose and palate, framed by ripe, velvety tannins. It shows impressive power and concentration, combined with generosity, texture and length, making it a powerhouse. Give it several years in the cellar and drink it until around 2040."
Côte Rôtie Belle Hélène is another beautiful wine that shines more for its purity and elegance than for its apparent power and richness. Black fruits, wood smoke, caramelized meats, and hints of beef blood are all characteristic of this full-bodied, mineral, concentrated, and chiseled Côte Rôtie, which needs 5-7 years of cellaring.
