Côte-Rotie La Chana 2020 - Duclaux
Domaine Benjamin and David DUCLAUX
(89 - 91)/100 Parker
When to drink this wine : Now to 2030.
Tasted by Joe Czerwinski in 2022: "Blended from several parcels and barrels for my evaluation, the 2020 Cote Rotie La Chana generally contains about 7% Viognier and sees no new wood. It has attractive aromas of raspberry and apricot on the nose, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and a savory finish that nicely balances mouthwatering acids and gently dusty tannins. It should drink well for the rest of the decade."
What the estate says about it:
"Origin of Côte-Rôtie La Chana: This wine is made with viognier, another great grape variety in the Côte-Rôtie appellation. We wanted to bring it back into the limelight as a complement to our Syrahs. The addition of 7% viognier gives this wine a seductive nose and a silky and delicate mouth.
Grape varieties: 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier.
Harvesting : manual.
Maturation: aged mainly in demi-muids.
Food and wine pairing : Côte-Rôtie La Chana is a very pleasant wine. It will be perfect with a rump steak or a nice entrecote.
Tasting advice : No need to wait years to taste it.
