Côte-Rotie Maison Rouge 2020 - Duclaux
Domaine Benjamin & David DUCLAUX
(92 - 95)/100 Parker
When to drink this wine : 2022 - 2032
Tasted by Joe Czerwinski in 2022: "The 2020 Cote Rotie Maison Rouge comes from 1.5 hectares in the gneiss-laden northern part of the vineyard and contains no Viognier. Purple raspberries and black olives crowd the nose, framed by subtle notes of baking spices. It's rich and silky, with a long, elegant finish. It should be drinkable right out of the gate, while still being able to be stored for at least a decade."
The Cuvée Maison Rouge is the single vineyard cuvée and flagship of the estate.
100% syrah.
Made from old Syrah vines planted on a gneiss bedrock, this wine is the pride of the estate.
Yield: 25 hl/ha Vinification: manual harvest. 100% de-stemmed, 3 weeks maceration in temperature-controlled vats.
Ageing: 20 months in barrels and demi-muids, 20% of which are new barrels.
