About Château Gazin
Gazin is located in the eastern part of the Pomerol plateau, where the soils are rich in clay and limestone. The 26-hectare vineyard of Gazin (large by Pomerol standards) adjoins the vineyards of L'Évangile and Pétrus. The wine is a blend of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The grapes are vinified traditionally and the wine is aged in oak barrels (50% new) for 15 to 18 months. The vineyard of Château Gazin, with a surface area of 26.5 hectares, is planted with 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. However, the estate's objective is to gradually increase the amount of Cabernet Franc in their vineyards, while reducing the amount of Merlot planted.
