Hermitage Les Miaux 2010 - Ferraton Pere & Fils
93/100 Wine Spectator
Cellaring: 2011 - 2036
Tasted in 2013: "Ripe at first, with an almost unctuous feel to the boysenberry, plum and black cherry fruit paste flavors. It has a racy graphite backbone, a taut cocoa frame and a long smouldering tobacco edge, adding grace and scope on the finish." - JM
GRAPE VARIETY
100% Syrah.
SOIL
- Clay-limestone with sand and small pebbles on the surface (les Dionnières),
- Alluvial terraces made of rolled pebbles (the Méal).
VINIFICATION
Completely destemmed harvest.
Vatting for about 4 weeks (depending on the vintage) in concrete vats (for better thermal inertia).
Extraction by pumping over.
MATURING
In oak barrels for 14 to 16 months depending on the vintage (10% in new barrels).
TASTING
Colour: deep ruby colour.
Nose: aromas of black fruits, spices and liquorice.
Palate : fleshy, powerful wine with silky tannins. Aromas of ripe fruit. Long finish.
